Thompsons Cricket Academy has been running for 6 years, mainly for boys which is a huge success with approx. 100 children age ranging between 5-13 year olds. We feel now is the right time to launch a girls cricket academy.
The reason behind this is it is becoming one of the fastest growing sports in the world. There are currently over 200 girls playing junior cricket just in the Bristol and Gloucestershire areas and is now overtaking rounders in many of the independent schools.
Western Storm’s huge success has really gathered momentum in the South West and also with the World Cup success of the national team. The girls have role models to aspire to and more want to get involved.
This is why we feel now is a great time to launch the first ever girls cricket academy in Bristol. We are aiming the academy at 10-14 year olds accommodating both development and performance players.
